This magazine, published by Mirabeau, discusses the current status of digital design from three perspectives, technology, aesthetics and human sciences, and sets the norm for the future of digital design. With contributions from leading pioneers.

The diagonal is the leading visual motif in the design of the magazine. The text columns on this spread run from top left to bottom right.

The layout, with the side notes in the margins, is also a tribute to Robert Bringhurst’s standard work The Elements of Typographic Style on the principles of classical typography.

Dynamic Design reflects the user and context in real time. The implication is, therefore, that static pages no longer exist. The visual appearance changes and continuously varies, based on user variables such as device, location, time and the way and frequency with which the user interacts with the interface.

In the middle of this spread, HAL, the first voice interface from the movie Space Odyssey (2001), is shown. This ‘crystal ball’ reflects the spread from the magazine depicted here, evoking the creepy feeling from the film and the moral panic surrounding the applications of AI.
