Rational

Typographic content is often applied to flat surfaces such as screens and paper. This webVR space explores how typographical content can be applied in a virtual spatial environment.
Most virtual environments such as gaming and metaverse platforms are characterized by a photorealistic or magic realist visual language. In this performance, a purely abstract visual language has been chosen that builds on that of the Swiss International Style, with the aim of continuing this in our current computational era. Although the scene takes place in space, any form of spatial illusion, decoration and meaning or meaning is avoided. This is in response to the current trend to use algorithms decoratively and to put the work of art at the service of a better world.

Rational

This VR space shows a simplified 3D jet fighter in a half-open box. As the object is not fully visible, due to the viewpoint of the visitor, 2D projections of the object are drawn on the walls and floor of the box, defining the position of the object. In the souterrain a framed 2D representation of the jet fighters, a 'painting' is shown.
This artwork deals with the main paradigm in the history of painting: representing 3D immersive sceneries in the world around us in a 2D frame. In contrast with the common photorealistic visual language in computer games and metaverse platforms, this composition is purely abstract and not decorated.
